Production Editor
At Stellar, we aim to build a studio where people actually want to work.We face the inevitable ups and downs of production as a truly supportive and connected team, prioritizing open communication over anyone working in isolation. We value honesty, creativity, and looking out for one another.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a meticulously organized and proactive eagle-eyed Production Editor to join us on a premium streaming series for Marvel Animation.
To be clear: this is not a creative Animatic Editor role. You are the transactional powerhouse and the guardian of our frame counts. You will be the crucial link between Marvel’s editorial team and our internal pipeline, ensuring every file, frame change, and audio swap is perfectly synced in Flow Production Tracking.
You are also coming in to be our workflow hero. We are retiring the painful old days of manually "eyeballing" frame discrepancies in RV and Maya. Your very first mission in your first month will be to help us select, license, and integrate a dedicated editorial tool so that when turnovers hit, the process is seamless. If you love solving puzzles, hunting down discrepancies, and building efficient systems, we need you!
In this role, success looks like:
Tool Setup & Pipeline Integration (Your First Month):
- In your first month, evaluate, select, and help integrate a proper editorial tool in partnership with our Pipeline team.
- Ensure the new tool and workflow are fully operational before the first major client turnovers arrive.
Editorial Operations & Ingestion:
- Receive editorial files directly from the client and seamlessly ingest them into Flow Production Tracking.
- Meticulously align all audio changes and iterations, tracking everything from initial scratch audio through to final dubbing.
- Manage a volume of up to 1,500 shots over the course of the year.
Frame Management & Discrepancy Hunting:
- Act as the ultimate detective for frame and length changes as shots move through layout and animation.
- Proactively investigate and resolve frame discrepancies directly with Marvel, protecting the production floor (and our leadership team!) from having to do manual investigations.
- Ensure the studio is always working from the most accurate, up-to-date cut.
The Requirements
Must-Haves:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Production Editor, Editorial Coordinator, or similar role in episodic animation or VFX.
- Technical Savvy: Strong understanding of how editorial connects to the CG pipeline. You have the technical confidence to partner with Pipeline to set up a brand new editorial tool integration.
- Tracking Mastery: Deep, working knowledge of Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid/Shotgun) for ingesting and tracking shot lengths/versions.
- Working Style: You are highly transactional, detail-oriented, and love hunting down a single misaligned frame. You communicate clearly and professionally with prestige clients.
- Eligibility: Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Deep familiarity with standard editorial and review tools (Premiere, Avid, Hiero, Nuke Studio, RV).
Why Join Stellar?
- Flexible Environment: We offer a flexible hybrid schedule that will vary with project and team requirements.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health benefits.
- Growth: Professional development support to help you stay ahead of tech and creative trends.
- Culture: A collaborative, ego-free environment where technical expertise fuels creative magic.
