The Opportunity: We are looking for an empathetic, resilient HR Generalist to join our Human Resources department. If you have a passion for full cycle HR, recruitment, and guiding both artists and leaders through the realities of production, this is your chance to make a real impact. This role is initially a one year contract, but for the right person, there is absolutely the possibility of an extension as our studio continues to grow.

In this role, you will be a true partner to our crew and leadership. You will drive our recruitment cycle and handle the critical day to day HR responsibilities, which includes stepping in to navigate difficult conversations, performance management, and respectful offboarding. During your 2 days in the Vancouver office, you will also provide light, hands on support to keep our physical studio running smoothly and welcoming for the team.

In this role, success looks like:

Employee Relations and Performance (Your Core Focus)

  • Navigating the tough stuff: Act as a trusted partner to supervisors when navigating complex employee relations. You will guide managers through difficult conversations, performance improvement plans, and when necessary, handle terminations with empathy, compliance, and grace.

  • Performance and culture: Own and track our review cycles (Performance and Probation). Ensure managers are equipped to give constructive feedback and that artists feel heard and supported in their growth.

  • Everyday support: Be the approachable first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, leaves, and HR procedures.

  • Compliance custodian: Maintain our HR policies, handbook, contracts, and records in our HRIS (Payworks). Apply them consistently, keep everything audit ready, and escalate to the HR Manager when needed.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Full cycle recruiting: Source, screen, coordinate, and interview across a range of roles using our ATS (JazzHR). Build repeatable pipelines and a candidate experience we are proud of.

  • Onboarding: Run smooth, consistent joining processes so every new hire starts strong, coordinating seamlessly with IT, Payroll, and Production Teams.

Facilities and Studio Support (Supporting Role)

  • Light facility support: During your 2 days in the studio, act as the point person for basic physical office needs. Instead of fixing the plumbing yourself, you will coordinate with building management to resolve any utility, AC, or electrical requests.

  • Security and Access: Maintain the access card and alarm code system and assign credentials to new employees.

  • Inventory and Culture: Keep an eye on facilities documentation and proactively order office supplies. Partner with the Production Teams to help plan company events like holiday parties or team lunches.

  • Safety: Ensure our physical space works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of British Columbia.

The Requirements

Must Haves:

  • Education: BA in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related Diploma or Certificate.

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience (recruitment plus day-to-day HR, not solely one or the other), including full-cycle recruiting experience.

  • Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and HR compliance, with the ability to apply and maintain policies and keep accurate records.

  • Core Skills: Strong organization, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English. You display integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality at all times.

  • Tools: Highly proficient with Google Suite.

  • Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position, and you are expected to work from our Vancouver office 2 days per week.

Nice to Haves:

  • Hands-on experience with an HRIS (like Payworks) and an ATS (like JazzHR), as well as LinkedIn recruiting.

  • Experience in digital marketing or social media management.
