Senior UI/UX Designer
Welcome to Stellar Code Lab, the new software innovation startup incubated inside Stellar Creative Lab. We are taking the battle-tested tools that powered hits for Marvel, Amazon, and Netflix and turning them into commercial-grade solutions for the entire industry.
We are building the future of animation tech—from Dart AI (bridging GenAI with production pipelines) to Zipline3D (streamlining CG workflows). Join us on the ground floor as we scale from "internal secret weapon" to "global industry standard."
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer to bridge the gap between Generative AI technology and the professional artistic workflows. Your mission is to translate complex technical capabilities into intuitive, artist-centric interfaces that allows creators to iterate rapidly without leaving their creative flow. By advocating for the user at every stage of development, you ensure that our software isn't just a powerful tool, but an invisible, integrated part of the animation pipeline..
Key Responsibilities (What You Will Own):
Artist Advocacy & User Research
- Conduct deep-dive sessions with Show Directors, CG Supervisors, and Production staff to identify friction points in their day-to-day.
- Translate complex artist needs into functional interface requirements; you are the voice of the user in the engineering room.
Interaction Design & Complexity Management
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes to validate workflows before code is written.
- Design "smart" interface controls (e.g., adaptive sliders, dynamic text areas) that abstract the complexity of underlying ComfyUI node graphs without limiting the artist's power.
Platform Experience & Visual Systems
- Lead the UI/UX design of the web-based management platform, creating intuitive user journeys for LoRA training, asset browsing, and subscription management.
- Maintain a unified Design System (color themes, component libraries) to ensure a consistent experience across the entire software ecosystem.
Usability Testing & Adoption
- Organize and lead usability testing sessions during development milestones to catch friction early.
- Collaborate with the technical team to create visual guides and "how-to" documentation, ensuring smooth onboarding for new clients.
- Ensure the interface adheres to modern accessibility standards while respecting the specific conventions of professional 3D content creation software.
The Requirements
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years in Product Design, UI/UX Design, or Information Architecture for complex web apps or SaaS products.
- Expert proficiency in Figma (variables, prototyping, auto-layout).
- A strong portfolio showing complex user flows and problem-solving (Wireframes to Final Product).
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience designing for 3D/VFX tools (Blender, Maya, Unreal) or complex technical software.
- Experience using tools like ComfyUI or Midjourney
- Understanding of CSS/HTML constraints to communicate effectively with developers.
Why Join Stellar?
- Hybrid Work: We offer a flexible schedule with 2-3 days in our Vancouver office.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Growth: Professional development support to help you stay ahead of tech trends.
- Culture: A collaborative, ego-free environment where technical expertise fuels creative magic.
